WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO LEARN FROM A CERTIFIED BIKRAM TEACHER?
All of our instructors have undertaken an intensive training program in America and have been personally trained by Bikram Choudhury to ensure that his methods and philosophy are preserved and taught properly. Bikram instructors ensure quality and professionalism in a safe enjoyable environment.
WHAT IF I'M NOT FLEXIBLE?
This is the most common misconception about yoga that prevents people from coming to class. It is not how flexible you are, it's about the attitude that you bring to class. Go to your personal edge, challenge yourself and you will get 100% benefit.I FEEL DIZZY AND NAUSEAS DURING CLASS IS THIS NORMAL?
It is not unusual to feel this way during your first few classes. Breathing is very important and please rest as needed. The biggest reason for feeling this way is usually because we don't drink enough water in our daily lives let alone enough for exercising in a hot room. Allow your body to adjust to the heat and feel free to rest a while until the sensation passes.Don't give up, be patient with yourself and your body will thank you.
CAN I LOSE WEIGHT?
Yes Yes Yes whatever your fitness level you will find Bikram Yoga challenging (it's why people come back) the postures combine strength, flexibility and balance to give you a total body workout. With any regular cardiovascular workout, it will aid weight loss.Bikram yoga is cardiovascular intense. A number of our postures are focused on working your metabolism and helping to balance your blood sugar levels. You will also find that your body will burn fat more efficiently in the heat.
We also run challenges twice a year. So if you want to lose weight and you're keen to participate your aim is to practice 40 classes of yoga in 60 days. We all start together and finish together and it can be a life changing experience. During the challenge you will be given a booklet on what to expect and some nutritional information to help you along the way. If you need to lose weight you probably will. Your progress will be monitored throughout the 60 days.
WHAT IF I'M PREGNANT?
If you have had a regular Bikram practice before falling pregnant - Bikram is not recommended during your first trimester, however we welcome you back in your 2nd and 3rd trimester. Your teacher will help you with modifications for the poses. If you have never practiced Bikram yoga before - We do not recommend Bikram yoga in the heat but you are welcome to purchase Rashadrees Pregnancy video.
Please note; always consult your doctor before undertaking any physical activity.
WHAT IF I FEEL SORE AFTER CLASS?
Give yourself a few classes to adjust, this is what the intro pass is for! The best advice I can give you is to come back the very next day.HOW OFTEN SHOULD I ATTEND CLASS?
As often as possible! I recommend a minimum of twice a week. If you would like to reap the benefits of any form of exercise I would practice three times a week and if you would like to experience life changing results practice 6 times a week.A consistent practice is the biggest contributor to a deep practice!
